A small house of care, founded on the belief that a home is the most personal place in the world.
Our founder, Grace Solano, grew up on a farm outside Dorset, where her grandmother kept a house so serene that neighbors would stop by just to sit in its quiet.
Grace spent the next twenty years caring for some of the most beautiful private homes in New York and the Berkshires. In 2014 she came home to Vermont with a simple idea: bring that same level of care to the families of Manchester and the valley.
She named the company after the birch trees that line our roads. Light, resilient and quietly elegant, they are everything we hope your home will feel like when we leave.
Grace begins caring for three second homes in Manchester Village, by herself, with a borrowed car and a notebook of standards.
The notebook becomes our 72-point checklist, still the foundation of every visit we make.
Our private training program opens, so every new specialist learns the craft the way Grace did.
We add specialist care for historic homes, fine finishes and seasonal estate openings.
A small, devoted team caring for homes from Dorset to Rutland, with the same attention as on day one.
